04-12-2009 predator in the trees
A Park Ranger pointed this out to me, she stated that it preys on the ducklings during the night. Although, it isn’t simply a one sided affair. As recent as a month ago, there were as many as eleven owls in the area, it seems the ducks have drowned many of the would be diners in their attempts to make off with one of their brood!
This owl, was very large. It was about 50 feet up in a tree directly over the river, a nice cool place to spend the day waiting for the nightshift.
