04-13-2009 the bee’s knees


In a single collecting trip, a worker will visit between 50 and 100 flowers. She will return to the hive carrying over half her weight in pollen and nectar….

This photo was taken early one morning while waiting for my film to be processed. It was rather neat because, as I walked along the hedge the first time there weren’t any bee’s visible. But I then found a few to focus on. Not two minutes later, I walked back the way I came and could see dozens of bee’s come landing all at once, as if on cue.

But then, the Landscapers came and I felt weird with them watching me point a lens 3 inches from a bush, so I moved on…
