This image taken at dusk, Friday about 8:30 pm.
It has just rained a bit, and the temperature is noticably cooler at the moment. Another summer coming to a close…

  1. Such a great rusty find! Looks a bit dangerous to use 🙂

    • Just what i was thinking! 😀
I can see that the principles are the same as a modern heater, but far less efficient. Something i found interesting was the exterior design. This doesn’t appear to be an item that would be hidden away in a closet, but perhaps located in the open. It must have kicked out a great deal of heat, so it may also have doubled as an space heater as well.
      Thanks!

  2. What a great old water heater. Great find!!!

  3. A fine series of this ancient water heater. I certainly enjoyed reading this warnings and directions for relighting this device. I suspect a user would be advised to follow the directions exactly!

  4. fantastic old machine

  5. When I was a kid, about 5, my parents bought their first house, and it had a water heater like this in the basement. It was no longer hooked up.
