01-24-2011 Riverwalk maintenance
The River Walk is the crown jewel of San Antonio. In January of every year, the River is drained to make repairs to the river walls and clear the debris that collects throughout the year. The annual event is celebrated with a Mud Festival and the discovery of “souvenirs” left behind by many San Antonio tourists and visitors. The most common items found are cell phones, cameras, parade chairs and restaurant silverware. Additional Mud Festival events include a Mud Pie Ball, Mud Arts and Crafts Show, and Mud Parade all of which occur during the week-long event.
Hey, even Mud is fun in San Antonio!
